What would you do if your climbing partner became stuck or injured? When help maybe hours away or not coming at all, your own skills to prevent and deal with situations will make all the difference. Like Outdoor first-aid, self rescue knowledge is essential for all climbers.

Who’s the course for:

This two day course is for climbers who are competent at Trad Lead Climbing or Multi Pitch Sports Climbing. It is also suitable for MTA members, RCI trainees and fully qualified RCI instructors looking to develop their personal rope skills, especially if going on to the MCI award.

Over our 1 day introduction to self rescue course this 2 day course gives you more opportunities to consolidate new skills and build on more complex rescue scenarios.

What’s included:

  • Revision of setting up belays.
  • Simple problem avoidance.
  • Personal abseiling safety.
  • Evacuating an injured casualty.
  • Assisted & unassisted hoists.
  • Escaping the system.
  • Passing knots.
  • Ascending and descending a fixed rope.
  • Emergency procedures.

Full course information, itinerary and kit list will be sent once the booking has been confirmed.

Our Advanced Improvised Self Rescue course covers more complex scenarios and skills.

If you would like to book this course for a small group please do get in contact.
